Sergei Vassilvitskii is a Distinguished Scientist and Senior Research Director at Google New York. He leads a broad team specializing in algorithms, data systems, speech and language technologies, and user privacy. His work has won several best paper awards and has been presented to international regulators and other government stakeholders. 

Prior to joining Google, Sergei served as a Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research. Reflecting a deep commitment to STEM education, he has also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University, where he taught graduate-level courses on computational social science, algorithmic game theory, and the handling of massive datasets.

Sergei received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University under the supervision of Rajeev Motwani.
