Director of Admissions & Recruitment

Sharine Stevenson (she/her) is the Director of Admissions & Recruitment at MƒA. In this role, she supervises MƒA's rigorous, multi-step selection process for our Master Teacher Fellowship and renewal applications. With her team, she develops and executes an annual recruitment plan focused on diversifying and expanding MƒA's fellowship applicant pool.

Prior to MƒA, Sharine spent 15 years with the NYC DOE holding various teaching and leadership roles, including UFT Chapter Leader, UFT Grievance Representative, NYC Master Teacher, Mentoring Teacher, Department Chair, and NYC School Designer. She also taught courses at Kean University, NJ. Sharine joined the MƒA Master Teacher Fellowship community in 2014, where she led Professional Learning Teams with her peers. Her experiences in MƒA prepared her to lead difficult conversations on Equity and Inclusion in her school, school district, and beyond. At the heart of all her roles is Sharine’s love for young people. She believes deeply that their passion and energy for life are unmatched and that given the right circumstances, every child can flourish.

Sharine earned a B.S. in Biology from Brooklyn College and an M.S. in Education with a focus on teaching science to adolescents at Pace University. Today, she lives in New Jersey with her husband and two small children, where she enjoys all things outdoors.
