The MƒA Thursday Think Speaker Series brings accomplished speakers who dive into cutting-edge topics in STEM education to MƒA. These talks, held once a month throughout the school year, invite MƒA teachers and the general public to learn and engage with these thought leaders and professionals in mathematics, science, and education.

“With education under attack and misinformation on the rise, math is more than just numbers—it’s a language for reason, a foundation for truth, and a tool for democracy.” Join us for a special edition of MƒA’s Thursday Think series featuring a screening of Counted Out.

This powerful documentary investigates the “math crisis in America,” exposing the systemic connections between mathematics, equity, and power.

Through the voices of students, teachers, and other experts, the film challenges us to consider the consequences of the “I’m not a math person” mindset and why broadening mathematical access is essential to our future. Following the film, a panel of educators and other experts will discuss how we, as teachers, can “change the equation” in our own classrooms and beyond.
