Scott Matthews is a New Teacher Advisor at Math for America New York, where he supports and advises Fellows in the program. He became a part of the Math for America community in 2006 as an MƒA Master Teacher and has ten years of experience as a teacher in New York City.
After earning a B.S. in Mathematics from Penn State, Scott became a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, where he taught mathematics in French for two years. He then became a Peace Corps Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he spent two years earning an M.A. in Mathematics Education and teaching at Morris High School in the Bronx.
Scott currently lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife, Ronda, and their two children, Mara and Owen.
