Kay Greenblatt

Kay Greenblatt serves as a New Teacher Advisor at Math for America New York, where she provides direction to MƒA Fellows throughout the Fellowship program.

Kay also works with two high schools in the Bronx, providing one-on-one support to new and experienced teachers on their lesson planning, use of manipulatives, familiarity with State standards, curricula and texts and additional classroom support.

Previously, Kay was a high school math teacher in New York City public schools and Rockland County private schools for over 30 years. During that time, she worked with colleagues to strategize best teaching practices and mentored new teachers in effective lesson planning. Kay also wrote and implemented curriculum for electives, incorporating graphing calculator technology. She has led professional development workshops on topics such as the new Integrated Algebra curriculum, understanding why students don’t “get” variables, and the concept of equality. In addition, Kay has worked as a high school guidance counselor.

Kay received a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science and M.S. Ed degrees in Guidance and Math. In her spare time she enjoys reading, movies, theater and singing in a community chorus.
