Heather Howell is a graduate student at NYU, where she is pursuing her PhD in math education. Prior to attending NYU, Heather was a mathematics teacher at Bard High School Early College (BHSEC). At BHSEC, Heather had the responsibility of planning and teaching ninth and tenth grade mathematics courses, as well as for freshman and sophomore courses in the college program including College Algebra, College Pre-calculus, Geometry and Connections to Art, Geometry and Mathematics of Design.
Heather was involved in the development of the Geometry sequence at BHSEC and created technology based assignments and classroom exercises that were integrated into that sequence. She was also involved in Curriculum development including the introduction of the Geometry sequence at BHSEC and the creation of technology-based assignments and classroom exercises as part of that sequence.
Heather has also taught at the University of Idaho, where she coordinated the Polya Extended Program, an outreach program for Secondary Mathematics Teachers in rural high schools in Idaho.
Heather has a master’s degree in mathematics and masters degree in education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Heather has also taught ESL classes to students in Colombia.
