Before becoming a mathematics teacher through the New York City Teaching Fellows, Cameron worked with severely autistic children and greatly enjoyed the challenge of teaching nonverbal children to communicate with others.
Although a psychology major at Franklin & Marshall College, Cameron's time as a teacher at ACORN High School for Social Justice in Brooklyn caused him to become deeply invested in urban math education. Most importantly, while a teacher he learned how to motivate struggling math students to be successful in the classroom. He believes that Math for America is a vehicle that will push NYC public school students to reach their full potential.
