As National Program Coordinator at Math for America, Kady Safar is responsible for monitoring and coordinating functions across each MƒA program site, including the application process, professional development opportunities and annual meetings. In addition, she collaborates with the President in developing potential new sites. Kady joined MƒA in September 2007 as Assistant to the Executive Director and was intimately involved in the redevelopment of the Web site and application process.
Prior to Math for America, Kady was a public school teacher, most recently teaching fifth grade in the Bronx. In addition, as a bilingual teacher in Detroit, Michigan, Kady was awarded the Star Teacher Award for Excellence and facilitated staff development at the district level.
Kady received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin and Master's Degree in Special Education at the Bank Street College of Education, and completed a Bilingual (Spanish) Teaching Certificate at Wayne State University. Kady's schooling and work experiences in education focused on urban, high-needs schools, where she was active in school reform policies.
