Jon Schweig was a classroom teacher for five years, at schools in New York City and Providence, Rhode Island. He has taught at every grade level from fifth grade to Advanced Placement Calculus, and has served as a mentor teacher.

Jon earned an MA from Stanford University in Curriculum and Teacher Education, specializing in Mathematics Education. While in graduate school, Jon and a partner collaborated on a curriculum project in which students designed zoo enclosures for imaginary animals. Called Zoo Space, the curriculum was used by an area middle school and the San Francisco Zoo.

Jon's Master's Thesis focused on examining the intersection of teaching and curriculum. He was interested in investigating how teachers transform universalized curriculum for the needs of their specific audiences. Data was gathered by observing pedagogical practices in a variety of high schools in California and New York.

Jon completed his undergraduate degree at Brown University, where he earned a BA in both Mathematics and English Literature. An avid cruciverbalist, Jon enjoys spending Saturday afternoons in the park feeling futile and shaking his fist at Will Shortz. He also juggles, and can make several different balloon animals, the most impressive of which is an eight-balloon Daffy Duck.

Jon lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Jennifer, his daughter Fiona and his dog Clancy.
