Edward Santos

As a Program Associate at Math for America, Edward is responsible for assisting in all areas of the application process with special emphasis on data collection and analysis. Edward also provides professional development support and coordination of special projects with Fellows and Masters Teachers.

Edward was previously a mathematics teacher at Central Park East High School in New York City as part of the Teach for America program. In addition to increasing the passing rates of core state mathematics assessments by 20 percent, he also initiated projects and sponsorships with J.P Morgan and Lehman Brothers to reinforce mathematics outside of the classroom. Edward has also held analyst and research positions at Lehman Brothers, Time Inc., University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers and Shanghai General Motors.

Currently, Edward serves as a board member of Community Board #11, where he works to address resident needs regarding various community interests, with a focus on youth, education and economic development in East Harlem. Additionally, Edward mentors disadvantaged high school students in New York City as a part of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity. Edward received a B.S. in Statistics from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Teaching in Secondary Mathematics from Pace University. In his free time, he enjoys running, fencing, cooking and playing the clarinet.
