Devon Harrison joined the Math for America team in September 2006 and currently works as MfA's Program Assistant. Devon earned a BA cum laude from Smith College in May 2006 with a major in psychology and a minor in urban education studies.
Pursuing her interest in education, Devon served as a teaching fellow in New York's MLK High School and as a writing advisor at Smith College. She also co-led an MCAS test-prep class for failing urban high school students at Bunker Hill Community College. Devon has tried her hand at filmmaking and recently completed her second documentary film which chronicles an after-school program aimed at empowering underserved urban adolescents through sports.
Perhaps the crowning achievement in Devon's career was her illustrious position as a Boston chocolatier, where her job was presenting a decadent chocolate fountain to the rich, famous, and chocolate-loving. In addition, Devon was awarded the national Starfall Children's Literature Fellowship in 2004 based on her children's story, titled, "I Am Not A Monkey!".
Devon lives in Brooklyn with friends. She enjoys dog watching & walking, board games, & learning new math jokes.
