President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President elect Joe Biden have outlined their education agenda for a 21st century education system. Central to this plan is an outline to recruit, retain, and reward an army of new teachers to prepare our children for success in college and the workforce.
 

RESEARCH

The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2007 measures math and science performance in grades 4 and 8.

The Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) recognized MfA as a Promising Strategy in their report, An American Imperative: Transforming the Recruitment, Retention and Renewal of Our Nation’s Mathematical and Science Teaching Workforce (PDF).

The Philanthropy Roundtable lauds Math for America for its efforts in addressing the shortage of math teachers nationwide in its report, Achieving Teacher and Principal Excellence (PDF).

In their State of the Nation Report 2007: Mathematics (PDF), ACT’s Educational Planning and Assessment System (EPAS) found that only 41 percent of twelfth graders were on target to be ready for college math.
